Evaluation of the effects of Bio-Forge on young transplanted almond trees in South Australia, clearly demonstrated the importance of applying it to plants after a stress-inducing event.
The main aim in this instance was to reduce the stress response of the plant through application in irrigation drippers.
When Bio-Forge was applied at budburst, and compared with similar trees that had not gone through a stressful transplant and had not been treated with Bio-Forge, the Bio-Forge treated young trees were found to have an increase in root length of 3.5%
In addition, Bio-Forge treated young trees showed a significant increase in the weight of the root system when compared to the control. The root system was 68% heavier than the control’s mean root system weight.
An increased number of finer and delicate roots noted on the Bio-Forge treated young trees, would also allow plants to take up more nutrients at a faster rate.
Overall, the application of Bio-Forge enabled greater root establishment in transplanted young trees. Good healthy root establishment allows the continuation of strong root growth throughout the growing season, assists in increasing nutrient uptake, and optimises plant hormone levels.
